“The net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.”
— John Gilmore, 1993
Hello, World
You found it.
Sovereign Status is a no-frills, no-trackers, no-nonsense blog. No comment sections. No social widgets. No engagement metrics. No surveillance capitalism. Just text — and the ideas behind it.
This is the kind of blog that could have been published in 1999, but it runs on 2024 infrastructure that makes it effectively permanent, fast, and free.
Why This Exists
The modern web is a landfill dressed up as a shopping mall.
Most “free” platforms — Medium, Substack, Ghost Cloud — are free the way Gmail is free. You are the product. Your writing trains their models. Your readers get tracked. Your audience gets metered behind paywalls when it suits the platform’s business model.
This blog runs on:
- Astro — zero JavaScript shipped to the reader by default.
- Cloudflare Pages — a global CDN, genuinely free tier, no credit card.
- GitHub — version-controlled source. The blog is just files.
Total monthly cost: $0.00.
What to Expect
Posts here will cover whatever demands to be written — operating under your own sovereignty in digital infrastructure, security, privacy, signal-vs-noise in technology, and dispatches from wherever critical thinking leads.
No schedule. No newsletter drip sequence. No “subscribe to unlock part 2.”
When there’s something worth saying, it will be here. Subscribe via RSS — the original chronological feed, uncurated by any algorithm.
How to Follow

No email required. No account. No tracking pixel in the “newsletter.” Just the posts, delivered to your reader, when they’re published.
